Lagoon 47 – A New Generation of Charter Catamaran
Lagoon 47 under sail

The Lagoon 47 is one of the most interesting new catamarans entering the charter market. Positioned between the highly successful Lagoon 46 and the larger models in the Lagoon range, it brings together generous living space, contemporary design and the easy-going cruising character for which Lagoon catamarans are well known.

After seeing the Lagoon 47 in person, one of our first impressions was how effectively the available space has been used. At 47 feet, this is still a catamaran that feels manageable for a family or group of friends, yet its different outdoor areas create the feeling of a considerably larger yacht.

Spacious Outdoor Living

One of the highlights of the Lagoon 47 is undoubtedly its exterior layout.

The aft cockpit provides a large social area where guests can dine, relax and spend most of the day outdoors. It connects naturally with the saloon, creating an open living environment that works particularly well in warm destinations such as Croatia, Greece and Italy.

Moving forward, the dedicated bow lounge gives guests another completely separate place to relax. This is an important feature on a charter catamaran. When eight or ten people spend a week together, having several different areas where guests can spread out makes a noticeable difference.

The forward lounge is perfect for a morning coffee at anchor, relaxing during a quiet afternoon or simply enjoying the scenery while cruising between islands.

The flybridge adds yet another social area and provides excellent visibility while sailing. Instead of treating the helm purely as a working space, Lagoon has created an area where the person steering can remain connected with the rest of the group.

Interior and Accommodation

Inside, the Lagoon 47 continues the emphasis on space and natural light.

Large windows create excellent visibility from the saloon and make the interior feel bright and connected to the sea. The saloon and galley form the central indoor living area, while the cabins are positioned in the two hulls for greater privacy.

Different accommodation configurations will make the Lagoon 47 suitable for both private ownership and charter use. For the charter market, the multi-cabin versions should be particularly attractive to families and groups of friends looking for comfortable accommodation without moving into the size and price category of a much larger crewed catamaran.

Lagoon 47 Under Sail

The Lagoon 47 is primarily a cruising catamaran rather than a performance racing boat, and that is exactly what most charter guests need.

Its wide platform provides stability and plenty of usable living space, while the sail plan allows guests to enjoy genuine sailing whenever conditions are suitable. For a week exploring the Croatian islands, comfort, stability and predictable handling are generally more important than chasing maximum speed.

This makes the Lagoon 47 particularly interesting for routes from Split, Trogir and the surrounding marinas, where a typical week combines relatively short passages with swimming stops, island towns and nights at anchor or in small bays.

Is the Lagoon 47 a Good Charter Catamaran?

We believe it has the potential to become one of the most desirable charter catamarans in the 45–50 ft category.

Lagoon has taken many of the characteristics that made previous models successful and introduced them in a more contemporary package. Most importantly, the Lagoon 47 offers something charter guests immediately appreciate: space in the right places.

There are multiple areas for relaxing, a comfortable cockpit for meals, a dedicated forward lounge, an elevated helm and social area, and a bright interior for the occasions when guests prefer to be inside.

For families, groups of friends and guests considering a skippered catamaran holiday, that versatility is a major advantage.

Our Verdict

The Lagoon 47 does not try to reinvent what a cruising catamaran should be. Instead, it improves the formula with better use of space, modern styling and several well-designed outdoor living areas.

For anyone considering a new-generation catamaran for a sailing holiday in Croatia, the Lagoon 47 deserves a place very near the top of the shortlist. We expect it to become a familiar sight around Split, Hvar, Brač and the other islands of the Adriatic as more boats enter the charter fleets.
