3-4-Day Sailing Itinerary from Split: Brač, Hvar, Pakleni Islands & Vis
This short sailing itinerary from Split is designed for guests who want to experience the most iconic Croatian islands in only three days. You will visit the famous Golden Horn beach on Brač, swim in the turquoise bays of the Pakleni archipelago, explore lively Hvar Town, and finish with the authentic fishermen’s village of Komiža on Vis — plus the spectacular Blue Cave.
It’s a perfect mix of nature, swimming, sightseeing, and authentic Dalmatia.
Day 1 — Split → Bol (Island Brač, Golden Horn / Zlatni Rat)
Sailing time: ~2.5 hours
Departure from Split is usually between 9:00 and 10:00 in the morning. After a short safety briefing, you leave the harbor and sail across the Brač Channel — a pleasant first sail with beautiful views of the mainland mountains behind Split.
Your destination is Bol, the oldest coastal settlement on the island of Brač.
Just west of the town lies Zlatni Rat (Golden Horn) — Croatia’s most famous beach. The long pebble cape stretches into the sea and constantly changes its shape depending on wind and currents. The water here is exceptionally clear and perfect for the first swim of the trip.
Guests usually spend the afternoon:
- swimming directly from the yacht
- paddleboarding around the cape
- walking the seaside promenade shaded by pine trees
- enjoying a relaxed lunch or coffee in Bol village
Bol is a calm and charming overnight stop, ideal for the first evening aboard.
Overnight: Bol.

Day 2 — Bol → Hvar Town → Pakleni Archipelago
Sailing time: ~3 hours
After breakfast, you sail south toward the island of Hvar, one of the sunniest places in the Adriatic.
You arrive to Hvar Town around midday. The harbor is located directly below the Spanish Fortress, and the old Venetian square is only a few minutes’ walk from the marina.
Recommended activities:
- walk through the historic stone streets
- visit the fortress for panoramic views
- lunch in the old town
- small shops and cafés
In the afternoon you leave the busy harbor and sail only 15–20 minutes to the nearby Pakleni Islands — a protected archipelago covered in pine forests and hidden coves.
Here the atmosphere changes completely. Instead of crowds, you find quiet bays with turquoise water ideal for:
- swimming
- snorkeling
- relaxing on deck
- dinner on board at anchor
This is often guests’ favorite swimming location of the whole trip.
Overnight: anchored in a Pakleni bay.

Day 3 — Pakleni Islands → Blue Cave → Komiža (Island Vis)
Sailing time: ~2.5–3 hours (early departure)
This day starts earlier because the sea is usually calm in the morning and the Blue Cave is best visited before midday.
You sail toward the small island of Biševo. Near the island you anchor and transfer to official small boats that take visitors inside the Blue Cave.
Sunlight enters through an underwater opening and illuminates the cave with a glowing blue reflection — a unique natural phenomenon and one of the most famous sights on the Adriatic.
After the visit you continue 20 minutes to Komiža, a traditional fishermen’s village on the western side of Vis island.
Komiža feels authentic and peaceful compared to Hvar. Stone houses line the waterfront, fishing boats fill the harbor, and life moves slowly.
Guests typically enjoy:
- lunch in a seaside konoba
- fresh grilled fish or octopus peka
- swimming at nearby beaches
- sunset with local wine
Overnight: Komiža.
Day 4 — Komiža → Swimming stop on Vis → Return to Split
Sailing time: ~6 hours
Before returning to Split, your skipper will stop at one of Vis island’s famous bays depending on weather conditions — often a hidden cove or a turquoise lagoon perfect for a final swim.
After lunch on board you begin the return sail across the open Adriatic toward Split. This is the longest sail of the trip but also the most relaxing: open sea, islands on the horizon and often dolphins along the route.
Arrival back to Split marina is usually around 17:00–18:00.
Why this route works well

It is one of the best short charters possible from Split and a perfect introduction to sailing in Croatia.
